Partnerships WITH and FOR Young People Take Center Stage
UNICEF hosted the seventh edition of "Activate Talks," an innovative event that brought together 150 young people from across Kosovo. Activate Talks showcase youth-led initiatives developed with the support of UNICEF and its partners and celebrates the outstanding work of young social entrepreneurs involved in our programs.
Following remarks by The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Hajrulla Çeku, the Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Christoph Weidinger and Head of UNICEF in Kosovo, Nona Zicherman, four young change-makers shared their personal journeys, using their stories of impact to inspire others to take action. Exciting examples of innovation from 20 other youth-led projects were shared at the fair accompanying the event. Many of the examples shared in today’s event were made possible thanks to the generous contribution of the Government of Austria, who has been partnering with UNICEF to advance the youth agenda in Kosovo since 2012. Through this partnership over 7,000 young people are reached annually, providing them with valuable skills development opportunities in areas such as social innovation, entrepreneurship, social advocacy, and critical media literacy.
Through events such as Activate Talks and together with its partners from Kosovo institutions and the public and private sectors, UNICEF continues to invest in youth skills development and empowerment, and is continuing to amplify the voices of young people and leverage the unlimited potential of youth to inspire transformative action and build a brighter future for all children and young people in Kosovo.
