Sustainable Development Council of the Assembly of Kosovo meets to review progress towards Agenda 2030.
At the finish of a very challenging year in many ways, the Sustainable Development Council of the Assembly of Kosovo came together for their meeting, to review the progress that has been made through the many projects and activities throughout the year. The council started planning new activities that will bring more awareness and will advance the SDG’s and the 2030 Agenda.
The meeting was held as combination of live and online meeting, due to the COVID-19 preventions. Under the lead of the chairperson, Dr Ablena Reshitaj, the council members discussed ideas and plans for the 2021 work plan. As a result, the council adopted specific items to be implemented in the following year as per bellow:
In compliance with the Resolution on the SDGs LINK, the members will oversee the implementation of the National Development Strategy (NDS), and other Strategies that have integrated the SGDs.
The Sustainable development Council will ask for regular government reports on the implementation of the NDS.
In January, the Council will meet with the government on the upcoming NDS and based on that they will develop the Action Plan for Implementation of the SDGs.
The Committee on Legislation has committed to address the Legislative Agenda with the SDG perspective.
The Council will engage and monitor during drafting national progress reports that may be presented by the Government to the United Nations as part of the global review at the UN High Level Forum on Sustainable Development.
The Council will hold regular meetings with CSOs, private sector, and the public and will intensify the meetings at the local level.
The Council will organize a meeting with donors to increase their support in Kosovo’s implementation of the Agenda 2030.
The Council stays dedicated and committed to fulfilling their primary goals, aiming to eliminate extreme poverty, reducing inequality, and creating a greener planet, together with other Sustainable Development Goals.
As the process of the goals continues, we are slightly looking into a better and more positive future, in which the sustainable development will meet the needs of our present without compromising the ability of future generations meeting their own needs.
