COVID-19 Emergency Response Project

In continuing the support to efforts to contain the spread of the #COVID-19, Mr. Brendan Keirnan from UNOPS office in Pristina and the minister of Health Mr. Arben Vitia signed an agreement for delivery of outputs that will help facilitate the vaccination process, by enhancing operational capacities of the Ministry of Health through the provision of specific equipment and supplies and expansion of medical facilities that will facilitate the vaccination process.

Given the intensity of the current crisis and the resulting demand on supplies, having in mind that Kosovo is in a process of getting anti COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX program and also in a process of contracting vaccines from other sources, there is an urgent need to strengthen the capacity of the health sector, especially with respect to provision of critical equipment and vaccination facilities.

In consultation with the Ministry of Health, UNOPS will procure and deliver the agreed list of equipment and infrastructure facility with specifications that are acceptable to the Ministry of Health. UNOPS is ISO 9001 accredited and undertakes project management in accordance with the highest quality standards.

UNOPS shall deliver the outputs in the following plan/method:

●        Procurement and Management of design for works for Physical infrastructure requirements of the Central Vaccine Store

●        Procurement of works for Physical infrastructure of the Central Vaccine Store

●        Procurement of eight (8) Refrigerated Pickup Trucks with onboard temperature monitoring devices; and

●        Procurement of other equipment (Printers for printing labels for vaccines)

The project is supported through a soft-loan from The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB).
